Sander Ouburg, PhD

Sander Ouburg studied medical biology at the University of Amsterdam. He did his PhD on ‘the immunogenetics of infection and inflammation of the gastrointestinal and urogentictal tracts’ which he defended in December 2006. He continued his research at the laboratory of Immunogenetics at the VU University Medical Center, further specialising in the immunogenetic analysis of infectious diseases with a focus on Chlamydia trachomatis infections and extending pathway analysis approaches into genetic research where he is appointed as assistant professor. He has been co-promotor of a series of PhD students and currently involved in the guidance of 6 PhD students. Finally he has been involved in the organization of ten Annual Amsterdam Chlamydia Meetings since 1995 and in 2012 together with Prof. Servaas Morré he has organised the 7th European Meeting of the European Society of Chlamydia research in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
